Deep research

A mode where the AI spends minutes running many searches and writes a long report with citations.

A normal chat answer runs a search or two and replies in seconds. Deep research works more like a junior researcher: it makes a plan, runs many searches that build on each other, reads lots of pages, and comes back minutes later with a structured report full of citations.

It's good for questions with many parts, like comparing options or getting up to speed on an unfamiliar subject. It isn't verified research. More sources means more chances for one bad page to steer the conclusion, and invented or broken links still turn up. Treat the report as a well-organised first draft, and spot-check the claims your decision rests on.

For example

"Compare the three main heat pump grants for a homeowner in Scotland, with eligibility and deadlines" is a deep research job; "What's a heat pump?" isn't.
