Hybrid search
Also called keyword plus semantic search
Search that runs keyword matching and embedding search on the same question and merges the results, so exact codes and loose wording both match.
Keyword search and embedding search fail in opposite ways. Keyword search can't tell that "can't sign in" and "login failure" mean the same thing. Embedding search ranks by topic, so it can miss the one page that holds an exact code.
Hybrid search runs both on every question and merges the lists, so a passage either one finds can reach the model.
For example
A customer types "error TS-999 at login". Keyword search finds the page with that exact code; embedding search finds the page about sign-in failures that never mentions it.
