Nudify app
Also called nudification app, undress app, nudify apps
An app or website that uses AI to make a fake nude image of a real person from an ordinary photo, without their consent.
Nudify apps are image generators built for one purpose: take a clothed photo of someone and produce a realistic fake of them undressed. They need no skill, and they have been advertised on mainstream social networks.
The people harmed are rarely celebrities. They're classmates, colleagues, ex-partners and strangers whose photos were public. The fakes are used to humiliate, to harass and to blackmail.
Laws are catching up. The US now makes sharing such images a crime and forces platforms to take them down quickly. For anyone who's been targeted, the message that matters most is that it isn't their fault, and that removal is possible.
For example
A classmate's holiday photo is run through a nudify site and the fake spreads around a group chat.
