Tabletop exercise
Also called tabletop, TTX, incident walk-through
An incident rehearsed in conversation: the people who would respond walk through a made-up scenario and find the gaps in their plan.
A tabletop exercise is an incident rehearsed in conversation. Someone describes a scenario, and the people who would have to respond say what they would do, step by step. It breaks nothing.
Its value is in the questions nobody can answer. Who has the rights to stop this? Where are the records, and who can read them? Who decides whether a regulator has to be told? A plan can look complete on paper and still fail on the first of those.
AI agents give security teams a new scenario to walk through, because an agent can go wrong with no attacker involved and can act faster than anyone is watching.
For example
A team sits down with one question: the refunds agent is paying out wrongly at 2 a.m., so who stops it, and how? Nobody in the room has the rights.
