Access review
Also called access certification, access recertification, permission review, site access review
A check in which the owner of a site, group or system confirms who still needs access and removes everyone who doesn't.
An access review asks one question of the person best placed to answer it: of everyone who can get into this, who still should? The owner looks at the list, keeps the people who need access and removes the rest.
Reviews exist because access piles up. People change teams, projects close, a link made for one afternoon stays live for years. Nothing takes the old access away unless somebody looks.
They matter more once an AI assistant is searching the same files, because every person left on a site by accident is someone the assistant can now answer for from its contents. A review needs an owner to send it to, so a site with no owner gets one first.
For example
A report shows a bid site open to all staff. Its owner is sent the finding, removes the company-wide group and shares the site again with the 15 people working on the bid.
