Memory

Also called AI memory, saved memories

A feature that lets a chatbot keep notes about you, or draw on past chats, and use them in new conversations.

The model itself starts every chat blank. Memory is the app putting things back in front of it: details you mentioned, preferences, or snippets from earlier conversations. There are 2 kinds, and they behave differently.

Saved memories are short notes ("vegetarian", "has two kids") kept in a list or summary you can usually read and edit. Reference to past chats works more like a search: the app pulls in bits of old conversations that look relevant, and there's no line-by-line list to review. Both can make answers more useful. Both can bring up something you'd rather they didn't, and deleting a chat doesn't always delete what memory took from it.

For example

Mention once that you're allergic to nuts, and weeks later a recipe request comes back nut-free without you asking.
