Temporary chat
Also called incognito chat
A chat that isn't saved to your history and doesn't create memories: a cleaner, more private one-off.
Sometimes you want an answer without it becoming part of your profile: a health worry, a gift idea for someone who shares your laptop, or a question you want answered fresh, without your past chats colouring it. A temporary chat is for that. It doesn't appear in your history, it doesn't add to memory, and the main apps say it isn't used to train their models.
"Not saved for you" isn't "never stored". Providers keep temporary chats for a short time, for safety checks, before deleting them. And in some apps a temporary chat can still read your existing memories unless you switch that off.
For example
Asking about a symptom you'd rather not have shape future answers is a good use of a temporary chat.
