Share link

Also called shared link, shared chat

A web link to a copy of an AI conversation that anyone who has the link can open and read.

Sharing a chat creates a public web page with a copy of the conversation. It's quick and useful: one link instead of a wall of pasted text, and the other person sees exactly what the AI said.

It's also easy to overshare. People share a chat for one good answer and forget what's further up: a CV with a home address, a medical question, a draft letter about a colleague. In 2025 ChatGPT briefly offered a "make this chat discoverable" box, and thousands of shared chats showed up in Google searches before OpenAI removed the option.

The safe habit is simple. Share a fresh chat that holds only what you mean to share, or copy just the answer.

For example

You send a colleague a link to the chat where the AI drafted the project plan, instead of pasting the whole thing into email.
