Work account
Also called enterprise plan, business plan
An AI account your employer or school runs, with its own data rules: usually no training on your chats, and admins who can set limits.
The same AI can come with 2 very different sets of rules. On a personal plan, the company may train on your chats unless you opt out, and you're the only one in control. On a plan your employer pays for, the contract usually says your company's data stays out of training, and the company's admins decide how long chats are kept and which features are switched on.
That's why using a personal account for work is risky. "Shadow AI" is the name for it, and it's common: in a PagerDuty survey of office workers in 4 countries, two-thirds had used AI tools at work that they believed weren't allowed, and 88% had shared work information with public AI tools.
If your workplace offers an approved tool, use it for work. If it doesn't, ask before you paste.
For example
You paste a client contract into your company's ChatGPT Enterprise, not your personal account on your phone.
Put it to use
Where you'll meet work account in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, how to use it there, and the mix-up most people make.
